The Pentagon has selected four bases to serve as test beds for developing 5G technology. Hill Air Force Base, Utah; Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; Naval Base San Diego; and Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Georgia, were picked for testing, according to a recent news release. The locations offer access to site spectrum bands, appropriate infrastructure and conditions for controlled experimentation. A draft request for proposals for 5G testing is pending release, followed by a full solicitation in December. Work could start on the test project as early as April 2020. Read more at AF.mil.
