The Army is looking at a range of cutting-edge smart technologies to provide defenses for its bases. The service is looking into 10 technologies to innovate installations, according to a recent news release. They include autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence to analyze data, automated assessment tools that monitor for anomalies, and “frictionless entry,” among other concepts. An Army Training and Doctrine Command survey of young soldiers at five training bases reinforced interest in innovation to offer additional layers of security and convenience on bases. The surveys found soldiers want 24-hour access to base services via biometric kiosks or smart device apps. Drone-aided systems to counter enemy attacks on bases also drew interest.
