We are repeatedly told that, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Or, with every tough situation, just change your perspective.
Movers lose your things? Laugh about it!
Back-to-back deployments? Oh well!
Black mold in your housing? It's all good!
What about instead of shifting our perspective, we speak truth to power about what's broken and ask for meaningful change?
That's exactly what the annual Blue Star Families Survey seeks to do. They want to identify both the problem spots and the bright spots of military life in order to fix the gaps and ensure continued funding for what's working. As if that's not enough incentive, 100 participants will be selected to receive a $100 gift certificate for taking the survey between now and June 14.
According to the 2019 Blue Star Families Survey, "The purpose of this survey and overall research project is to help identify and explore the issues that face service members, veterans, and their families. The survey is being conducted by Blue Star Families (BSF) and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University. By participating in this survey, you are providing valuable insights that impact policy, educate military leadership, influence government decision-makers, and inform the general public on the challenges and stressors affecting today's military families."
The survey asks participants to rank which stressors have had the most profound impact on their lives. From spouse employment to reintegration to permanent change-of-station moves and everything in between, surveys like these are imperative in driving an accurate narrative about military life.
The collective voice of the military community can have a tremendous impact.
We know you have a positive outlook. You have a voice too. Use it to take the Blue Star Families Survey now.
