MCLEAN, Va – Military.com announced it has reached 100,000 ‘Likes’ on the social media site, Facebook, this weekend.

Like the website Military.com, the Facebook page features breaking news stories, information on benefits and provides a forum to discuss issues and opinions.

President of Military.com T McCreary said, “Facebook, and social media in general, is important to us because it offers more of a conversational tone; an opportunity to have a discussion with our audience. Passing 100,000 ‘Likes’ tells me we’re doing something right and we’ll continue to build that following.”

The Facebook page serves as a forum for immediate input and robust debates. Recent posts on women in combat, the repeal of ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ and Salvatore Giunta receiving the Medal of Honor generated a flurry of comments and first person testimony from active duty, veterans and their families.

Joanna Campione, Social Media Manager for Military.com added, “Social Media is the most immediate way to share information and connect virtually. We’re so fortunate to have a great audience who really set the tone and provide the commentary.”
