A Marine has died and six others are injured after their light armored vehicle rolled over during a training event on Thursday.

The Marines, assigned to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, were training at Camp Pendleton, California, when the accident occurred at about 9 a.m.

"This is a tragic event and our thoughts are with the family, friends and the unit at this difficult time," 1st Lt. Cameron Edinburgh, a spokesman for 1st Marine Division, said in a statement.

Officials have not released the identity of the Marine killed in the crash, pending family notification.

The six hurt in the incident were evacuated to a local hospital, Edinburgh said. Their injuries were not serious, he said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. No additional information about the incident has been released.

Staff Sgt. Joshua Braica, a critical skills operator with 1st Marine Raider Battalion, was killed at Camp Pendleton last month when his all-terrain utility vehicle rolled over.
