Sig Sauer recently honored a Navy SEAL hero with a commemorative MK25 pistol and the release of the documentary, "For Service As Set Forth: The Story of CMC Britt Slabinski, Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient."

President Trump awarded the nation's highest award for valor to retired Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Britt Slabinski at a May 24, 2018, ceremony. Slabinski is credited with rallying his teammates and risking his life trying to rescue a fellow SEAL, Petty Officer 1st Class Neil Roberts, during a battle atop Takur Ghar, a snow-covered, 10,000-foot peak in Afghanistan.

Roberts had been ejected from an MH-47 helicopter after it was hit by rocket-propelled grenade fire. The battle, which cost the lives of seven service members including Roberts and left 20 more wounded, would become known as the Battle of Roberts Ridge.

Sig Sauer, the maker of the Army's new Modular Handgun System, presented Slabinski with a special MK25 pistol in a private ceremony at its headquarters in Newington, New Hampshire, according to a recent company news release.

The customized MK25 is a Sig P226, a pistol carried by Slabinski and other Navy SEALs. The slide of the commemorative pistol is finished with a high polish, and the frame features the standard matte black finish, according to the release.

In addition, all of the pistol's engraving is done in 24-karat gold. The right side of the slide has the engraving, "For Service As Set Forth," the first line of the Medal of Honor Citation, and "CMH Recipient Britt Slabinski."

Engraved in the top of the slide is a likeness of the Medal of Honor on a raised piece of metal recovered from the World Trade Center, and six stars representing Slabinski's SEAL unit. The left side of the side has the engraving, "No Day Shall Erase You from the Memory of Time," a phrase displayed at the World Trade Center Memorial.

The pistol's custom grips are made of American black walnut. The right grip features the Red Unit Medallion of Slabiniski's SEAL team, and the left grip features the SEAL Trident.

Sig also released "For Service As Set Forth: The Story of CMC Britt Slabinski, Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient," the release states.

The documentary is an in-depth look at Slabinski's service and features interviews with him; retired Command Master Chief Petty Officer Steve "Mato" Matulewicz; Ron Cohen, Sig Sauer president and CEO; Tim Butler of SIG Custom Works; and retired New York City Police Officer Frank Pinto, according to the release.
