The Pacific Partnership 2019 conducted a series of exchanges centered on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief during their recent mission stop in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Incident command systems experts met to learn about command and control in a natural disaster, the Coast Guard hosted a search and rescue exercise with government officials from the Marshall Islands National Disaster Management Office and local and military officials met for a basic first responder symposium. The Pacific Partnership mission began in response to the December 2004 tsunami that devastated parts of South and Southeast Asia. The mission has evolved over the years to an operation focused on enhancing partnerships through host nation subject matter experts and civil-military exchanges. Read more at Navy.mil.
