Marvel Rivals showcased the first details for Season 6, revealing their take on the Merc with a Mouth during the 2025 Game Awards. Over the past few months, Marvel Rivals has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence of players. Prior to the start of Season 5, Marvel Rivals launched its first PvE mode, incorporating a dedicated Marvel Zombies-style game mode where players could team up to take down waves of the undead and unique bosses to progress their characters.

With live-service games, it's pretty natural for fans to always want to know what's around the corner. For Marvel Rivals, one of the bigger draws to the game are new characters, which have typically been added two per season. Prior to the Game Awards reveal, many fans felt they identified the pair that could be coming in Season 6 for Marvel Rivals thanks to some choice text in the Season 5 gallery card. In it, the Collector references "a blathering, foul-mouthed mercenary" and "a monster hunter as deadly as she is beautiful" which has led fans to assume Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone will be the newest additions to Marvel Rivals.

As it turns out, the rumors were spot on as NetEase showcased the first trailer for Season 6 of Marvel Rivals, confirming that Wade Wilson will be the first character joining the roster on January 16, 2026. Known as Night at the Museum, Season 6 continues the current storyline in Marvel Rivals following Gambit and Rogue's attempt to steal from the Collector. In response to this act, the Collector hires Deadpool, though things don't go according to plan as he instead opens every door in the museum, causing all sorts of mayhem.

While Ryan Reynolds and Nolan North may be closely associated with Deadpool, NetEase has a different version of the character. While currently unofficial at the time of publication, fans seem to agree that Alejandro Saab, who Borderlands 4 players will know as Rafa, is providing his voice for the character. For now, though, the speculation on who it could be will continue.

The end of the trailer also provided another confirmation of recent rumors, showcasing Elsa Bloodstone showing up at the museum and seemingly taking a shot at Deadpool. It's unclear if she was hired by another third party or is on scene to try and clean up the mess that has been unleashed. Either way, it'll be interesting to see where both Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone end up in terms of Marvel Rivals role system.

It also stands to reason that Deadpool's addition will further push player numbers for the online title. While Marvel Zombies helped majorly boost player numbers, NetEase used it as a launching pad for Season 5, which is adding fan favorite X-Men characters Gambit and Rogue. Alongside all of that, Marvel Rivals is also celebrating its first anniversary with an event that is giving players premium currency and a chance to unlock a legendary Jeff the Land Shark skin, even if there are a few catches involved.
