Diablo 4 has officially revealed this year's Lunar Awakening, a celebratory event featuring shrines that grant 100% bonus experience, the new Ancestral Favor Reputation track, and a set of cash shop cosmetics. This Lunar New Year event will take place in Diablo 4 from February 12 to February 26.
It is an exciting time to be a Diablo 4 player. During The Game Awards last year, Blizzard revealed Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, a brand-new expansion pack arriving April 28, where fans can finally square off with Mephisto himself. Were that not exciting enough on its own, the Paladin class was immediately made available to play for anyone who pre-purchased Lord of Hatred.
Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening Event Explained
To help pass the time between now and this exciting release, Diablo 4 has begun a new event to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Lunar Awakening starts on February 12 at 10 AM PT and runs until February 26. During this event, all Shrines in the game have been replaced with Year of the Horse-themed Lunar Shrines, including those in Nahantu, the zone from Vessel of Hatred. When activated, these grant a 100% multiplicative bonus to experience gains for two minutes, plus a potent unique effect:
- Artillery Shrine – Casts have a chance to summon a holy bomb
- Blast Wave Shrine – Explosions summons a cluster bombardment
- Channeling Shrine – Increases attack speed, chance to reset cooldowns
- Conduit Shrine – Conjures frequent shocking strikes
- Greed Shrine – Chance to summon a Diablo 4 Treasure Goblin; while active, kills summon a Treasure Goblin
- Lethal Shrine – Chance to execute monsters and Fear other nearby enemies on hit (affects Elites, but not Bosses or other players)
- Protection Shrine – Reflects all incoming damage, scaling with level and difficulty
Tip
Lunar Shrines also have a unique icon on the Diablo 4 world map and, after use, spawn Miserly Spirits to let characters capitalize on their bonus experience and gameplay features immediately.
Like last year's Lunar Awakening in Diablo 4, Ked Bardu has been decorated with the Lunar Night Market hub for the event. There, players who progress through the 10 Reputation Levels of the new Ancestral Favor event track can claim six cosmetic rewards, including the exclusive Trag’Oul’s Consort mount, jade weapons, and more. Finishing this track also rewards a Resplendent Spark, along with Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors caches for excess reputation.
Lastly, fans with Platinum to spare will be able to visit Tejal’s Shop to purchase exclusive cosmetics. Lunar New Year-themed items like the Scholar of the Lonely Moon Sorcerer ensemble or the Dragon of the Lonely Moon mount armor bundle are just some of the collections players will find there.
