Paradox has officially released its first public update for Europa Universalis 5, which should address more than 350 bugs as the developers seek to provide players with the smoothest gameplay experience possible. Europa Universalis 5 is the latest grand strategy game by Paradox and is a direct follow-up to Europa Universalis 4, which received support from the developer for a full decade after launch.
As a grand strategy game with a strong focus on real-world events, Europa Universalis 5 allows gamers to witness 500 years of history unfold over the course of the game. Shortly after its debut on November 4, Europa Universalis 5 climbed to the top of Steam's sales charts, even overtaking the massively popular extraction shooter Arc Raiders for a brief period of time. As of writing, the game is sitting at an 87 on the review-aggregator site OpenCritic and has a "Very Positive" rating on Steam. With so many people diving into the game, and potentially the series, for the first time, Paradox has been quick to release its first update aimed at addressing bugs and various issues that may negatively impact the experience of its players.
Europa Universalis 5 Releases 1.0.2 Patch Notes
In a recent post on Paradox Forum, Community Manager Ryagi delivered the first set of public patch notes for Europa Universalis 5's 1.0.2 update, which has taken aim at correcting over 350 bugs that have been found within the game. Ryagi was quick to note that the 350 fixes do not include translation issues in the title, many of which have also been corrected. Paradox has fixed problems with several achievement triggers, which means people seeking out achievements should be able to do so more reliably than before. The developers have also addressed several issues with the economy in Europa Universalis 5, fixing things like rice being used at fruit wineries.
Paradox has also tackled some issues with nations in Europa Universalis 5, such as a bug that would prevent navy-based countries from shattering the way army-based ones do after losing all of their units. Marriage Unions have also been fixed, as they will now break when one person dies. These are just a few of the highlights, but players can find the full patch notes included further down this page.
While players can undoubtedly expect to see more patches addressing bugs and gameplay issues in the coming weeks and months, Paradox has also confirmed that it has three big DLC packs planned for Europa Universalis 5. The DLC will be divided into Immersion Packs and Chronicle Packs, which will vary in both size and scope. While the current details are somewhat sparse, fans can expect to learn more about the expansions soon. With so much content to enjoy and even more on the way, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Europa Universalis 5.
