Final Fantasy Tactics players will have an opportunity to add a new item to their collections, as Square Enix revealed The Art of Final Fantasy Tactics, which will go on sale later this year. While gamers will have to wait a bit longer for a new Final Fantasy Tactics game, the upcoming art book will feature some never-before-seen character illustrations and some archived concept art.

Final Fantasy Tactics was originally released on the PlayStation in June 1997 and was exclusive to Japan before making its way to the West in January 1998. Set in the land of Ivalice, Final Fantasy Tactics revolved around a political conflict known as the War of the Lions, which saw former friends Ramza Beoulve and Delita Heiral on opposite sides. Final Fantasy Tactics was relaunched in 2009 for the PSP, with the subtitle The War of the Lions. In 2025, Square Enix released Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles on current-gen platforms. The Ivalice Chronicles was named Best Sim/Strategy Game at the 2025 edition of The Game Awards.

Soon, fans of Final Fantasy Tactics' art style will have a special collectible that they can buy through various storefronts. The Art of Final Fantasy Tactics will be released on Tuesday, November 10, via the Square Enix Store, Amazon, and other bookstores. Square Enix stated that the upcoming art book will be available in hardcover starting at $27.99 and as a digital ebook for $14.99. The full-color art book will feature artwork that was created for the development of the original Final Fantasy Tactics game, along with The War of the Lions and The Ivalice Chronicles. The Art of Final Fantasy Tactics has a page count of 128, with a cover that features characters like Ramza, Ovelia, and some of the game's Jobs. Square Enix clarified that the cover art is not final and is subject to change.

The Art of Final Fantasy Tactics will feature character concept art, along with some never-before-seen sketches and drawings made for the game and its later reiterations. These concepts will include illustrations of Final Fantasy Tactics' different character Jobs, rough map designs, and some packaging artwork. Some of the artists from the original launch of Final Fantasy Tactics include Akihiko Yoshida and Hiroshi Minagawa. Yoshida would later go on to draw character designs for Final Fantasy 12 and Final Fantasy 14. Pre-orders for the hardcover edition of The Art of Final Fantasy Tactics are now available via the Square Enix Store, while supplies last. Any delays or changes in the art book's release date will be posted by Square Enix as necessary.

Although other Final Fantasy titles, such as Final Fantasy 7, have seen greater success, the story of Final Fantasy Tactics has stood the test of time. Final Fantasy Tactics received some additional games throughout the 2000s, including Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which told their own unique tales. Final Fantasy Tactics' setting of Ivalice was also utilized for Final Fantasy 12, and various references to FF Tactics have been incorporated into Final Fantasy 14.
