Superhero Games With The Best Graphics

Superhero games were once all the rage back in the '80s and '90s. There were a lot of Batman and Spider-Man games released on systems like the NES and SNES. While some of those games still look great today thanks to their high-quality pixel art, they’re not what everyone wants to see.

A lot of players care about cutting-edge graphics, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting the best of the best. While some of these games are almost a decade old now, they still hold up visually. For anyone who wants a visually stunning superhero game that is easily playable on current hardware, these are the games to get.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Anyone Can Wear The Mask

Every Spider-Mangame from Insomniac looks great, with characters new and old, sporting great new designs. While the white webbing on Peter’s suit wasn’t a complete reinvention, it was a nice modern touch that transferred well into the latest game, Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Peter and Miles share a compelling story that wouldn’t be half as good if the character models and mo-cap acting weren’t up to snuff. The fluidity of combat and swinging through New York also looks fantastic, and this current trilogy is among the best of the best for superhero games.

inFamous: Second Son

A Forgotten Sony Superhero

inFamous: Second Son launched around the same time as the launch of the PS4, and it still looks good over a decade later. It has a similar feel to the X-Men universe, as a secret government organization is rounding up mutated individuals who it has deemed dangerous.

Delsin is a street punk who gains the ability to steal powers from others, like abilities based on light and smoke. Second Son was one of the best games that showcased the PS4’s particle effects during combat, and time has only helped it look great with one of the best versions of Seattle ever realized in games.

Marvel's Avengers

Assemble Online

Marvel's Avengers was an attempt to make a live-service game like Destiny 2 set in the Marvel universe. While the roadmap wasn’t as well-realized with post-game content, the core game, however brief, at least delivered a good story campaign. Youngster Kamala Khan tries to help The Avengers reassemble after a catastrophic event rips them apart and shatters the public's trust in superheroes.

Marvel's Avengers is another game with a great story that is well-acted and sports well-designed character models. The action is well animated for each playable character, too, from Kamala’s stretchy arms to Iron Man’s laser blasts.

Gotham Knights

The Bat Family Comes Together

Gotham Knights is not directly tied to the Arkham games, but it still follows Batman’s crusade to save Gotham. Unfortunately, Batman goes away after the opening, and it’s up to his surrogate “Bat” children to pick up the torch.

As Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, or Red Hood, players can patrol Gotham alone or with friends online in co-op. The story isn’t as dynamic as other Batman games or many Marvel games, but the neon lights hitting the cold, dark streets of Gotham do look good while exploring, and the action isn’t bad either.
