The video games scheduled to release in 2023 should excite gamers of all genres, especially military enthusiasts. There were some great releases in 2022, such as Top Gun: Maverick and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but most highly anticipated video games are now expected in 2023. This year is stacked with major releases, many tailored to the military community.

GameRant, a website that shares reviews and analysis on popular games, has 20 of the most anticipated releases and the platforms on which they will be available. Included on that list are Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo 4, RedFall, Final Fantasy 16 and 7 Rebirth and Hogwarts Legacy.

Another website, GameRanx, released their 15 most anticipated war games for 2023. This list may interest service members and military gamers a bit more. On the list, you'll find PC games such as Ultimate General: American Revolution, Roman Empire Wars, Headquarters: World War II and ZEPHON.

Release dates are estimated, just like movie release dates, and aimed to make the biggest splash when they enter the market. Here are a few expected this year, with no release dates published yet, but that should be very popular with military gamers and active duty service members.

Six Days in Fallujah

First discussed in 2009, this may be the longest wait for a video game. Surrounded by controversy due to its real-world combat events, announcements have been limited, but this game, based on the Second Battle of Fallujah, is believed to be released this year. With help from over 100 service members, this first-person shooter game video game, which will be available on PlayStation, Windows PC and Xbox, is as authentic as possible.

Assassin's Creed Mirage

This version of Assassin's Creed takes place in Baghdad during the Golden Age. Playing as Basim, you'll explore the city, learn about world events and interact with historical figures. The games in the Assasin's Creed series help develop problem-solving skills and are beautifully realistic. This game may catch the attention of your non-gaming spouse or friends, giving you more playing time. It will be available on Xbox, PlayStation, EPIC, PC and Amazon Luna when released.

Company of Heroes: III

As a sequel to Company of Heroes: II, players will find themselves in the thick of the action in Italian and North African theaters. You can play this strategic game from one of four perspectives: US Forces, British Forces, Wehrmacht or Deutsches AfrikaKorps. You'll also see additional forces showcased in this version, including troops from India, Italy and Canada. Company of Heroes: III is available for pre-order on the PC, and you can put the Playstation or Xbox version on your wishlist.

Video games can have educational and entertainment value. Playing with friends also brings a level of community that active duty service members may struggle to rebuild after arriving at a new duty station. These games, set to release in 2023, open more doors to finding a game that suits each gamer's personality and interest.
