"Rogue Warfare: Death of a Nation" is the final movie in the special operations movie trilogy, and it's coming to theaters, video on demand and digital on Sept. 25. Stuntman-turned-director Mike Gunther made his bones working with Michael Bay and David Ayer, and the "Rogue Warfare" movies are his big break.

The second movie "Rogue Warfare: The Hunt" premiered online in April and found a huge audience when it moved to Netflix later in the summer, where it became the service's No. 1 movie for a time. It's still available there and so is the first film "Rogue Warfare."

The movies follow a top secret special ops team made up of operatives from around the world. They're under the direction of the U.S. president (played by Stephen Lang from "Avatar" and "Tombstone") and tasked with stopping a plot to destroy the world.

The hook here is the competitiveness between members of the team. When you put American, British, French, Chinese and Russian door-kickers together in a room, they're all going to believe that their way is the only way to get the job done.

This time, the team has to defuse the situation before the president is forced to make a drone strike on their target. They have to get done and get out or get smoked.

The "Rogue Warfare" movies are the kind of gritty action movies that provide a counterpoint to CGI-infested Hollywood blockbusters like the "Avengers" movies. They're quick and dirty, and this series' success on Netflix proves that there will always be an audience for a more straightforward kind of action picture.

You can check out "Rogue Warfare" and "Rogue Warfare: The Hunt" on Netflix before the "Rogue Warfare: Death of a Nation" premiere date.
