Prime Video has released a trailer for the long-awaited third season of "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan." This time, John Krasinski ignores the orders of his CIA handlers as he looks to foil a plot by Russian oligarchs determined to start World War III.

"Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" is set to stream on Dec. 21, 2022, and you can watch the trailer below.

It's been three years since we saw Ryan foil a corrupt leader's conspiracy and restore democracy in Venezuela alongside James Greer (Wendell Pierce) and Mike November (Michael Kelly).

Now, Jack's working as a CIA officer in Rome. When he gets a tip that a secret plan to restore the Soviet Empire called the Sokol Project has been reactivated 50 years after U.S. intelligence thought it had been shut down, Ryan decides that he needs to confirm the intelligence before things get out of hand.

Somehow, Ryan finds himself implicated in a larger conspiracy, and the CIA puts out a Red Notice and orders his arrest for treason. Odds are good that Ryan created this mess for himself by not going through the proper channels when he started the investigation because that's how our hero operates.

Ryan goes on the run in Europe, looking to prove the Russian conspiracy is real before the CIA hunts him down. Will he stop the madness and prevent another world war?

The trailer suggests that, when things get hairy, Greer and November will again choose to team up with Ryan instead of following orders from CIA headquarters. Can three aging spies muster the spec ops skills to survive the mission and save the world?

Not to spoil everything, but we know that "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" will return for a fourth and final season with a story that will introduce Michael Peña ("Fury") as spec ops badass Domingo "Ding" Chavez to the Prime Ryan universe. There's word that Prime Video plans a Ding Chavez series to follow the end of Krasinski's run as Jack Ryan.

The new season will also feature Nina Hoss ("Homeland") as Czech President Alena Kovac and Betty Gabriel ("Get Out") as CIA Rome Station Chief Elizabeth Wright.
