1 February 2018 Military Pay

This edition of the "when will I get paid" chronicles is coming super-early, but that's not a mistake. We're one-third of the way through the longest possible pay period, 20 days. Since it's been about a week since the last payday, folks are starting to noodle around and wonder when that next paycheck is coming. Unfortunately, it is still two weeks away: Thursday, 1 February 2018.

As with any long pay period, if you are struggling, consider implementing some of the strategies in Eight Way To Get Through A Long Pay Period. If that's not enough, reach out to your military relief society (Army Emergency Relief, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Air Force Aid Society, or Coast Guard Mutual Assistance.)

Back to the important question: When will your pay show up in your bank account? For most people, that will be Thursday, 1 February 2018. But some service members use banks or credit unions that credit military pay before the actual payday. Here's are the big ones:

USAA

USAA credits military pay one business day prior to the actual military payday. For this pay period, that will be Wednesday, 31 January 2018.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) is a little tricky, because only one type of NFCU checking account gets early direct deposit.  NFCU members who use an Active Duty Checking account for their military pay receive the benefit of early deposit crediting, so their military pay will be available for use in their checking account on Wednesday, 31 January 2018. NFCU members who use any other type of checking account will have their military pay available for use in their checking account on Thursday, 1 February 2018.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay two business days prior to the actual military payday.  For this pay period, that will be Tuesday, 30 January 2018.

Pacific Marine Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay two business days prior to the actual military payday.  For this pay period, that will be Tuesday, 30 January 2018.

If you're not on this list, and you don't know for sure that your bank or credit union offers early direct deposit, you should assume that your pay will be available in your bank account on 1 February 2018.
