Are you one of the good guys -- one of those veterans (or military in transition or spouses) who want to go into the civilian world and do a good job with good people for great pay? Then you are going to need to know how to negotiate your job offer.

Now when you hear "negotiate," please know I'm not asking you to suddenly turn into a shark in a sharkskin suit staring down the Wolf of Wall Street.  As Military.com's transition master coach, I want the good guys out there to get paid what they are worth. I don't want you looking up in six months to realize that everyone on the team is making more money than you. Envy drains the love out of every job there is.

How to Negotiate Like a Good Guy

After helping more than 10,000 military and spouses find their next high-impact job, I've learned that one of the things you good guys do not know is that the negotiation for the greatest paycheck ever starts way before the offer finally pops into your email. Negotiations go through three distinct stages. Just by knowing what those stages are and how to master them like a good guy, you can really increase your bottom line.

That is why I put together our newest FREE transition master class: Negotiation: How to Get the Biggest Paycheck Ever. On Thursday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. EST, in just 60 minutes, I am going to teach you how to negotiate each step toward a great paycheck in a way that both goes well with the norms of civilian business life as well as your own personality and ethics.

You will learn:

  • Where are you most likely to find the best income for you and your family?
  • How to use our exclusive method to "know your worth" on the open market.
  • How to score on human resources' trick question about salary expectations.
  • How to evaluate the actual job offer without getting taken or looking greedy.
  • How to get a signing bonus.

It would be great if civilian employers were as transparent about salary, bonuses and benefits as the military. With our master class, you will be sure you are getting the biggest possible paycheck and benefit package so that you are ready to do the best work ever.
