    The explosion blew two million tons of water and sand into the air, creating a water column nearly 1.830m high, 600m wide, 91m thick. 57 baby rats, 109 mice, 146 pigs, 176 goats and 3,030 white rats were placed on ships nearby to observe. 35% of the animals died from the direct impact of the explosion or radiation exposure.
