Marines Launch and Recover RHIBs

Share

PACIFIC OCEAN (March 10,2 014) Marines with Bravo Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, conduct launch and recover rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIB) from the littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1) three miles off the shore of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. It was the first time the Marines used a littoral combat ship for the drills and determined that using an LCS gives the reconnaissance teams the ability to launch from the ship and be recovered at a greater distance out at sea.
