Navy Destroyers Launch SM2 Missiles

    PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 16, 2018) The Arlieigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) and the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) fire SM-2 missiles during exercise Valiant Shield 2018. Valiant Shield is a U.S. only, biennial field training in blue-water environment. This training enables real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forceds through detecting, locating, tracking, and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace, in response to a range of mission areas.
