Amusement parks are a fun way for families to spend time together while on vacation. But tickets aren't cheap, especially for larger families.

Many military families take advantage of the military discounts available for the Disney parks, but may not be aware of the discounts available for other popular amusement parks.

The following are amusement parks that offer military discounts. Keep in mind that many other amusement parks throughout the country offer military discounts on specific holidays like Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. Check back with us when those holidays roll around to see what parks offer discounts.

Big Surf Waterpark

Big Surf Waterpark in Tempe, Arizona offers a military discount to active-duty service members on general admission. Pay $19.95 on tickets at the gate instead of $34 and spend the day enjoying the wave pool, rides and slides.

Cedar Point

Cedar Point offers discounted admission for all active, retired and honorably-discharged members of the military.

Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg offers active-duty military, Reservists, National Guard personnel, retired military and veterans complimentary admission once a year for themselves and up to three dependents on either Memorial Day weekend or Veterans Day weekend. They also qualify for 25% off the purchase of single-day admission tickets or 25% off the purchase of annual passes for themselves and up to three direct dependents.

Diggerland

Diggerland in West Berlin, NJ offers a military discount of $4 off general admission per person. This offer is valid for the military ID holder and up to three additional family members.

Discovery Cove Orlando

Discovery Cove in Orlando is an all-inclusive day resort where guests can enjoy an opportunity to swim with dolphins, snorkel among tropical fish and rays, hand-feed exotic birds and encounter playful otters. Active-duty military and veterans get exclusive military pricing for reservations at Discovery Cove.

Dollywood

Dollywood in Tennessee offers a military discount on one-day admission tickets and Season Passes. Purchase your discounted tickets online.

Dutch Wonderland

Dutch Wonderland in Pennsylvania offers a discount of up to $20 off full-price One-Day Admission to active and retired military personnel and their party during the summer season.

Great Wolf Lodge

The Great Wolf Lodge, an indoor water park with locations throughout the country, offers a discount to military families through their Howlin' Heroes program.

Hersheypark

Hersheypark offers military discounts valid for Regular Summer Operating Season, Hersheypark in the Dark, and Hersheypark Christmas Candylane. Check with your local military base for discounted admission tickets.

Holiday World & Splashin' Safari

Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana offers a military discount in person and online. To purchase tickets with a military discount at the ticket booth, show your ID to save $19 off full-price General Admission. Children ages three and younger get in free. This discount may be used on up to eight tickets per visit.

Idlewild and SoakZone

Idlewild and SoakZone in Pennsylvania offers members of the military a discounted price of $41.99 on summer season admission tickets. Tickets are valid any operating day.

Kentucky Kingdom

Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville offers a military discount of $42.99. Purchase online and then provide a valid military ID at the gate.

Kings Dominion

Active-duty military and veterans can purchase discounted tickets to Kings Dominion in Virginia. The discount is available online and can be used for up to six family members.

Kings Island 

Kings Island in Ohio offers discounted tickets to active and retired members of the military and veterans on all public operating days. The discount offer is available online and is valid for up to six family members. (The discount may vary throughout the season.)

Knoebel's Amusement Resort

Knoebel's Amusement Resort in Pennsylvania offers all active-duty members of the military a $40 book of ride tickets. Retired/disabled veterans can receive a $20 book of ride tickets. This is available once per season.

Knott's Berry Farm

Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California has roller coasters, family rides, water rides, games and arcades and live entertainment. Buy a Military Admission Ticket online and get special discounts.

LEGOLAND

LEGOLAND Florida offers active-duty service members free admission to LEGOLAND Florida Resort & Water Park. Veterans, non-active military and military families can show a valid military ID at the ticket window and receive a 10% discount on one and two day tickets. You can also check your local ITT office on base for discounted tickets.

Magic Springs Theme and Water Park

Magic Springs offers a military discount with ID of $34.99 plus tax at the gate. Family members are $36.99 plus tax. 

Morgan's Wonderland

Morgan's Wonderland in San Antonio, Texas offers $6 off entry for military personnel. You must show your military ID at the park.

Pacific Park

Located on the Santa Monica Pier, Pacific Park has rides, games, ocean front specialty food outlets and seaside shopping. All active-duty military personnel and immediate family members accompanying them get a discount on wristband purchases with a valid military ID card at the ticket booth. (This discount is not available online.)

SeaWorld Parks

Through the SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment program "Waves of Honor," military members can receive one complimentary admission per year to either SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, or Sesame Place. Register online because the offer is not available at the parks.

You can also purchase tickets at Shades of Green, an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) in Orlando, Florida, which is a 15 to 30 minute drive from SeaWorld. (Shades of Green is also a great place to stay if you're looking for affordable hotels in the area.)

Six Flags

Most military bases offer discounted admission tickets to Six Flags parks so check with your nearest MWR/ITT office. Not all Six Flags parks offer military discounts at the park ticket offices so call before you go. Parks include Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Great America, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Universal Studios

Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida offers a Military Freedom Pass that lets you choose from 2-Park or 3-Park options. They also offer vacation packages, including a Military Create Your Own Vacation Package, as well as discounts on Universal hotels. Purchase discounted tickets at your MWR/ITT office or Shades of Green.

Universal Studios Hollywood offers a discount off general admission tickets for active duty and retired military, National Guard, Reservists and their dependents. These discounted tickets must be purchased in advance from participating Military Ticket Offices.

Valleyfair

Valleyfair, located in Shakopee, Minnesota, offers military discounted tickets online to active and retired military personnel, veterans and immediate family members.

Wild River Country

Wild River Country, a 26-acre park in North Little Rock, Arkansas has thirteen attractions, party decks, three pavilions and a volley ball court. The water park offers military personnel $8 off one-day admission tickets.

Worlds of Fun

Worlds of Fun, located northeast of downtown Kansas City, offers a military discount off the front gate admission price to military members and their families. You can also look into getting discounted tickets at local military installations, such as Offutt Air Force Base and Fort Leavenworth.
