Hurlburt Field is located on the Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle, 35 miles east of Pensacola. Hurlburt Field is very close to Eglin AFB.

This area is also known as the Emerald Coast and is a major tourist attraction for its breathtaking white beaches and the emerald green waters.

Hurlburt Field is home to the Air Force Special Operations Command and the 1st Special Operations Wing and has a long and distinctive history.

Hurlburt Field is one of Eglin AFB’s many auxiliary fields and is located 35 miles east of Pensacola. The Air Commando’s of the 1st Special Operations Wing (1 SOW) have been proud tenants since 1961. Headquarters for Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), the USAF Special Operations School (USAFSOS), and the Air Combat Command’s (ACC) 505th Command and Control Wing also call Hurlburt Field home. The 8th Special Operations Wing is the host unit and flies the distinctive CV-22 Osprey (tiltrotor aircraft).

This Panhandle air base is positioned west of Fort Walton Beach on the Santa Rosa Sound. You’ll find most of the base services you’ll need on Hurlburt, but if you’re looking for more options you can easily hop over to Eglin AFB as well.
