As the rest of the world faces what it means to pivot their businesses and lives, military spouses have a leg up. After all, we've been doing it for years. But that doesn't mean we don't need some help now and then.

Milspo Media founders Krystel Spell, Lakesha Cole and Kia Young have been surprising us with one great idea after another. From the wildly successful inaugural makeHER Milspouse Retreat in October 2019 to the #Milspouseowned Virtual Conference in April, they're growing their tribe and pushing military spouses out of their comfort zone.

And now it's time for some fun, they say. On May 8th, in celebration of Military Spouse Appreciation Day, military spouse entrepreneurs are invited to attend a virtual Business Shower hosted by the trio.

Why a business shower? Kia Young reflects on how they made that decision.

"In the early planning stages of the makeHER Milspouse Retreat we were in a meeting and one of us made the comment that when people have babies or weddings they're showered with all these gifts and it's so helpful," she said. "Well, what about when you're starting a business? It's a major life event and business owners definitely could use some help and mentorship during that time! So, we created the Business Shower with that in mind."

As of now, there are over $1,000 in giveaways to celebrate the many roles that milspouse entrepreneurs wear. And that figure is growing. Young said she hopes the event gives spouses a boost even as all of their local military spouse appreciation events are likely canceled.

"Not to mention in the current pandemic, we all need something to boost morale and just have a bit of fun! So we'll be incorporating some games, like trivia, and other things to keep it fun. Like an online party," Young said.

Registration is required to win the cool prizes. Register here.

To participate, hop on to the makeHER Facebook page on Friday, May 8, at 1 p.m. ET and hang with some very fun people (including yours truly) and cheer on friends who win these awesome prizes.

Cole, Young and Spell are not shy about finding success and rewarding the community for it. The swag from their makeHER Milspouse Retreat was some of the best we've seen. They leave no detail to chance and think of everything necessary to make an event amazing.

"We refer to the community we're building through work as our 'Milspouse Village.' In a village everyone contributes and has an integral job that is necessary for the village to thrive. The Business Shower is just one way we honor that," said Young.

Just like military spouses as a whole, there are many types of military spouse business owners -- those with completely virtual and digital businesses, freelancers, brick and mortar store owners, bloggers, makers and all types of creatives. The business shower, they said, is for everyone.

"The makeHER Business shower is a fun way to expand the connections we make at our in-person retreats," said Krystel Spell. "We are excited to do our part in building the entrepreneurial morale of our community during COVID-19 and shower our military spouse attendees with gifts that will make them feel great and be a resource to their business."
