The first U.S. Navy uniform was non-descript and consisted of pantaloons often tied at the knee or knee breeches, a jumper or shirt, neckerchief, short waisted jacket and low crowned hats. The Navy didn't begin to standardize their uniforms until 1841, which reflected British Naval traditions. Today's Navy uniforms include the new Working Uniform (blue camouflage pattern) and Service Uniform, numerous forms of the Service Dress, Dinner Dress, Ceremonial, Tropical and Winter uniforms, in addition to the more traditional enlisted Full Dress uniforms.
